Château Figeac 2019

1er Grand Cru Classé – Saint-Emilion
“Such a great wine that God exists at his sight!”
Pierre Desproges
Neighbor of the legendary Cheval-Blanc, Château Figeac, is atypical thanks to its high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc which sets it apart from other Saint-Émilion. Very elegant, this wine to keep seduces the palate with a nose of gun flint that is recognizable to it.

History
Its origin dates back to the 2nd century with the FIGEACUS family, who owns a Gallo-Roman villa gave it its name. The Manoncourt family, owners of the estate since 1892, have shaped the unique personality of Château Figeac today. In 1955 Château Figeac became 1er Grand Cru Classé of Saint-Émilion.
Terroir
Château Figeac is located west of Saint-Émilion on the edge of Pomerol. The 45 hectares of vines are positioned on three famous gravel ridges which form an exceptional terroir, and confirm its wine vocation. These gravels (which the Château shares with its prestigious neighbor Cheval-Blanc) so unique to Saint-Émilion allow it to use 35% Cabernet Franc and 35% Cabernet Sauvignon. This characterizes it as the most “Médoc” of Saint-Émilion. The terroir of Figeac is quite simply remarkable.
Vinification and aging
The vines, on average 40 years old, are harvested by hand. Vinification and aging are traditional. The wines will remain for 15 to 18 months in new French oak barrels.
